Abstracts and Contributions

The 2-day Global Summit will feature brief keynotes, interactive panels, workshops, poster presentations, storytelling and exhibitions. Attendees are invited to submit an abstract or contribution to the Global Summit. We welcome contributions in the following categories: Storytelling, Scientific, Impact, or Perspectives. Submission deadline: 11.59pm CET on Sunday 30th November 2025.

Category Storytelling Scientific Impact Perspectives
Description These are creative contributions that bring to life lived experiences of: diabetes stigma and discrimination; minimising their harms; and/or speaking out against diabetes stigma and discrimination. These are summaries (abstracts) of new and emerging research studies and scientific developments. These are case studies showcasing initiatives translating knowledge into practice, policy, and systems change, e.g. community initiatives, advocacy campaigns, healthcare innovations or policy developments. These are critical commentaries and forward-thinking perspectives on the current landscape of diabetes stigma and discrimination. They may focus on a particular population, setting or approach or take a broader view.
Aim To share experiences and promote open dialogue. To build evidence through rigorous research. To highlight real-world initiatives and their impact. To foster strategic thinking and dialogue about advocacy, research, and actionable possibilities.

Guidance for Submissions

  • All contributions (submissions and presentations) must use safe, non-stigmatising language when referring to diabetes and to people living with or affected by diabetes. Check out the Summit Care Protocol.
  • All contributions should be prepared and presented in English.
  • Contributions will be presented in-person only.
  • The Steering Committee will determine acceptance and type of contribution.
  • The Steering Committee reserves the right to accept or reject a contribution, or to advise its recategorisation. The decisions of the Steering Committee are final.
  • Submissions must be made online via the website by 11.59pm CET on Sunday 30th November 2025.
  • Lead authors will be notified of the outcome of their submissions by Monday 8th December 2025. It is the responsibility of the lead author to notify any co-authors of the status of the submission.
  • Registration is required to submit an abstract or contribution. Payment is not required at the point of registration. An invoice can be requested for payment at a later date. Confirmation of registration and payment can be made after abstract acceptance.
  • At least 60 people with lived experience of diabetes who submit a contribution, and have their contribution accepted, will receive FREE registration and 3 night’s accommodation. In addition, at least 30 people with lived experience of diabetes will receive travel scholarships via our partner #dedoc°.
  • Acceptance of a contribution does not automatically mean award of free registration, accommodation, or travel scholarship. Decisions will be communicated with the presenting authors in December, at which point a voucher code will be applied to their registration and accommodation to ensure they are not required to pay for those.
